bhartiya jyotish shastra men bhi ratnon ke mahatva par vishesh taur par kaha gaya hai. hamare rishi muniyon ne apni divya drishti dvara yah jan liya tha ki vibhinn grah kin-kin rangon ki rashmiyon ko utsarjit karte hain, usi rang ko adhar man kar unhonne ‘ratna’ nirdharit kiye taki ashubh grahon ka upchar kiya ja sake. ratnon ki daivik shakti ko to ab vaigyanik bhi manne lage hain.

- pratyek grah se ane vali tarangen ya rashmiyan ya shakti vayumandal men sthit hoti hain. unko ekatra karne ke liye ek madhyam ki avashyakta hoti hai aur ratn vah madhyam hota hai.
- ratn ek vishesh grah ki rashmiyon ya shakti ko ekatra kar manav ke liye anukul banane men saksham hota hai. yah rashmiyon ke sath anunad sthapit kar manav sharir men tvacha ke sukshm chidron se rashmiyon ke pravah ko barhate hain.
tab manav rakt men maujud lauh tatva par chunbkiya shakti dvara rakt koshikaon ke pravah v sancharan men parivartan hota hai aur fir usi anusar manav ki kisi vishesh karya se sanbandhit soch men badlav ata hai tatha vah usi sochanusar karm kar jivan men anukul parivartan la pata hai. ratn janmakundli ke kamjor grah ko keval takat deta hai n ki kisi ashubh grah ki ashubhta men kisi prakar ki kami lata hai.
jis grah ka ratn pahna jayega, vah grah shubh ho ya ashubh aur takatavar ho jayega. atah ashubh grah ka ratn kabhi dharan nahin kiya jata. ratnon ke prakar ratn 84 hain parantu mukhyatah ratn do prakar ke hote hain: nav ratn (manik, moti, munga, panna, pukhraj, hira, nilam, gomed aur lahsuniya) aur up ratn (hakik, munaston, bladaston, oneks, sunhla, jarakan, firoja, nili, lajavart adi). in navaratnon men bhi panch ratn (manik, moti, panna, hira v nilm) panchmharatn kahlate hain.
nav ratn to apni khas visheshtaon ke karan yugon se hi svikarya hain aur uparatn dharan karne se bhi anek labh prapt kiye ja sakte hain. kaun sa ratn pahnen kis vyakti ko kaun sa ratn pahnna chahiye, yah nimn baton par nirbhar karta hai:
- janmarashi ya janm nakshatra ke anusar, dasha-antardasha anusar, shubh grahon ke anusar, mulank ya bhagyank ya namank ke anusar, hastarekhaon ke anusar, rogon ki prakriti ke anusar. keval dashanusar ratn pahnna hanikarak ho sakta hai.
vaise avashyaktanusar bhi ratn pahna ja sakta hai jaise vidya ke liye chaturthesh ya panchmesh ka ratn, vivah ke liye saptamesh ka ratn. ratn ka ungliyon se sanbandh grahon ki rashmiyon ko alg-alag ungliyon ke snayu tantra ke madhyam se prapt kiya jata hai. rashmiyon ke prabhav ko sharir ke avashyak angon tak panhuchane ka karya snayu tantra ka hai.
pratyek ratn kisi vishesh ungli men hi pahna jata hai kyonki hamari alg-alag ungliyane ka hamare mastishk ke alg-alag bhagon se sanbandh hota hai. mastishk ke kis bhag men un rashmiyon ko jana chahiye, yah ungliyon ke madhyam se hi kiya jata hai.
jaise surya ka ratn manik, surya ki ungli anamika men hi pahna jayega. chandra ka ratn moti kanishtha ungli men, mangal ka ratn munga anamika men, budh ka ratn panna budh ki ungli kanishtha men, guru ka ratn pukhraj guru ki ungli tarjani men, shukra ka ratn hira anamika ya kanishtha ungli men, shani ka ratn nilam shani ki ungli madhyama men, rahu ka ratn gomed madhyama men aur ketu ka ratn lahsuniya madhyama ya anamika men pahna jata hai.
ratn kab dharan karen kisi shubh muhurt men hi ratn ko dharan karna chahiye. shubh nakshatron evan varon men hi shubh ratnon ko dharan karne se labh milta hai. sarvarth siddhi yog, amrit yog ya ravi yog men bhi ratnon ko dharan kiya ja sakta hai. jis grah ka ratn dharan karna ho, yadi gochar men vah grah apne hi nakshatra par se bhraman kar raha ho v us din us grah ka var bhi ho to vah din ratn pahnne ka uttam din hota hai jaise chandrama ka ratn moti pahnna ho to dekhen ki kis somvar ko chandrama rohini, shravan ya hast nakshatra se gujar raha hai, us din moti pahnna chahiye. rog-chikitsa men ratnon ke labh rog nivaran hetu prachin kal se hi ratnon ka upyog kiya jata raha hai. ratnon men se niklne vala rang ghanibhut avastha men hota hai jo svasthya par gahra prabhav dalta hai.
rog nivaran ki vidhi rang-chikitsa ka bhi yahi adhar hai. kuch vishesh rogon men to ratnon ki bhasm ka aushdhi ke rup men upyog kiya jata hai. hakim aflatun ke anusar to yadi munge ki mala ko kisi rogi ke gale men dal diya jay, to dhire-dhire munge ka lal rang fika hone lagta hai aur jaise-jaise rogi svasth hone lagta hai to lal rang punah ane lagta hai.
manik hridyrogon men, moti khansi v mansik rogon men, munga rakt rogon men, panna fefrane v gurde ke rog men, pukhraj piliya v pet ke rogon men, hira seks rogon men, nilam haddi rogon men, gomed korh ke rogon men v lahsuniya ulti bukhar men atyant labhdayak hai. jakhm v nasur men kataila, apach men garnet, kamaradard men dana firang, garbhapat rokne men munga v panna, netra rog men manik atyant upyogi hai.
ratnon ke shakun yadi ratn chori ho jay ya kho jay to yah samajh lena chahiye ki jis shubh kam ke liye ratn dharan kiya gaya tha, vah vishesh karya, shubh grah ka ratn apni shakti samathrya anusar kar chuka hai. yadi kam baki rah gaya ho to naya ratn dharan karna chahiye. yadi ratn ka rang fika par jay to samjhna chahiye ki jis ashubh grah ke prabhav ko kam karne ke liye jis shubh grah ka ratn pahna gaya tha, us ashubh grah ka asar ab shubh grah ke ratn se shant ho gaya hai.
yadi ratn men darar par jay to samjhna chahiye ki ashubh grah bahut shaktishali hai jo shubh grah ke ratn ko kamjor kar sakta hai, atah ab us ashubh grah ki shanti bhi karvani chahiye. ratnon ki maryada ya savdhaniyan ratnon se juri kuch savdhaniyan ya maryadayen bhi hain jinke bare men hamen pata hona chahiye. ratnon ko pahan kar dah sanskar jaisi jaghon par nahin jana chahiye.
anaitik karya karna ya ashuddh sthan par ratn pahan kar jana ratn ka apman karne jaisa kritya hai. aisi sthiti a bhi jay to ratn ko gangajal se dho kar kshama mang leni chahiye. kisi ko apna ratn udhar nahin dena chahiye, bar bar ratn utarna nahin chahiye, ratnon ke sath kisi tarah ka khel nahin khelna chahiye, ratn khandit hone par naya pahnna chahiye. galat ratn kabhi bhi dharan nahin karna chahiye kyonki ratn n dharan karna utna hanikarak nahin hai
jitna ki galat ratn dharan karna. samanyatah janmakanudli men dvitiyesh, tritiyesh, shashthesh, saptamesh, ashtamesh v dvadshesh ka ratn dharan nahin karna chahiye kyonki ye ashubh bhav hain aur inka ratn pahnne se ashubhta aur barhegi. lagnesh ke virodhi grah ka ratn bhi kabhi nahin pahnna chahiye kyonki aisa karne se lagnesh ki shakti kshin hoti hai aur svasthya par pratikul asar hota hai.
