û ling puran ke anusar devon ne bhagvan shiv se anurodh kiya ki ‘ap kisi ek aisi shakti ka pradurbhav karen, jo ki sabhi prakar ke vighnon ka nivaran kiya kare. devon ki is prarthana ke anusar bhagvan shiv ne svayan hi ‘ganesh’ ke rup men janm grahan kiya. is puran men ganesh ji ka bhagvan shiv ke sath tadatmya dikhate hue unki samast upadhiyon, visheshtaon, abhidhanon evan vishisht samanya lakshanon ka prayog bhi ganesh ji ke lie kiya gaya hai. iske sath hi sath shiv tatha ganesh-donon men abhinnata siddh karne ke lie bhagvan shiv men ganesh ji ki bhi visheshtaon evan lakshanon ko aropit kiya gaya hai. ‘vayu puran men bhagvan shiv ko ‘gajendrakarna’, lambodr’, ‘danshtrin’ (va. pu. 24.147. 30. 183) adi kahakar isi tathya ki pushti ki gayi hai. ‘brahmapuran’ men bhi ganeshji ki upadhiyon ka bhagvan shiv ke lie upyog karke donon men purn abhinnata ka pratipadan kiya gaya hai.

û ‘taiÿiariya brahmana’ men ganesh ji ke vahan ko bhagvan shiv ka bhi vahan kahakar tatha ‘saur puran’ men ganesh ji ko sakshat shiv hi kahakar yah siddh karne ki cheshta ki gayi hai ki shrignesh evan bhagvan shiv donon ek hi hain.

û ‘brahmavaivart puran’ ke matanusar ganeshji ka shrivishnu ke sath tadatmya hai. bhagvan vishnu shivji se kahte hain ki ‘parvati ji se ek putra hoga, jo samast vighnon ka nash karega.’ itna kahakar bhagvan vishnu ek balak ka rup dharan karke shiv ke ashram men gaye. ve parvati ji ki shayya par balak rup men let gaye. parvati ji ne unhen apna putra mana. yahi putra ‘ganeshji’ ke nam se lokvishrut hua.

û ‘shiv puran’ ke anusar parvati ji ne apne sharir ke anulep se ek manvakriti nirmit ki aur use agyapit kiya ki ‘main snan karne ja rahi hun. jab tak main nahin kahun, tab tak tum ghar ke andar kisi ko mat ane dena. tum grih dvar par pahra do.’ yahi grihadvar-rakshak shakti ‘ganesh’ ke nam se abhihit hui aur inhin ke sath bhagvan shiv ka sangram hua.

û ganesh-sampraday evan ganesh puran men bhagvan ganpti ko ‘mahavishnu’ evan ‘sadashiv’ kaha gaya hai aur unhen sakshat paratpar brahm mana gaya hai. ve hi prrapanch ki srishti aur sthiti sanhar ke adikaran hain. unhin se brahma-vishnu-mahesh ka pradurbhav hua hai.
