is karan mujhe krodh aya.'' yah sunakar mahdev ji ne unke krodh ko shant kiya aur muskurakar unse pucha- ''putra, tum purush ke lakshan jante ho, to batao mujhmen purushon ke kaun-kaun se lakshan vidyaman hain?'' kartikey ji ne kaha ''pita ji, ap m en purusha en ke ais e lakshan vidyaman hain ki ap sansar men 'kapali' ke nam se prasiddh honge. putra ke aise vachnon ko sunakar shivji krodhit ho gaye aur unhonne kartikey ji ke ang lakshan shastra ka e uthakar samudra men faken diya aur svayan anrtadhyan ho gaye. kuch samay pashchat jab shivji ka krodh shant hua to unhonne samudra ko balu akar kaha ki tamu striyon ke abhashuan svarup vilakshan lakshanan e ki rachna karo aur kartikey ne jo kuch bhi purush lakshanon ke bare men kaha hai uski bhi vistrit vivechna karo.'' samudra ne shivji ki agya shirodharya karte hue kaha ''svamin, apne jo agya mujhe di hai, vah nishchit hi purn hogi, kintu jo mere dvara stri-purush lakshan ka shastra kaha jaega, vah mare hi nam 'samuidakra shastra' nam se prasiddh hoga. kartikey ne bhagvan maheshvar se kaha ''apke kahne se yah datan to main ganshe ke hath men de deta hun kintu inhen is dant ko sadaiv dharan karna hoga. yadi is dant ko fenk kar ye idhr-udhar ghumenge to fenka gaya dant inhen bhasm kar dega''. aisa kahakar kartikey ji ne vah dant ganesh ji ke hath men de diya.
