shukdev baba ne maharaj parikshit ko bhagavat katha shravan karate hue bataya ki rajan ! manu-shatrupa ki kanya akuti ka vivah putrika dharm ke anusar ruchi prajapti se tatha prasuti kanya ka vivah brahmaji ke putra daksh prajapti se kiya. usse unhonne sundar netron vali solah kanyayen utpann kin. inmen se terah kanyayen (shraddha, maitri, daya, shanti, tushti, pushti, kriya, unnati, buddhi, medha, titiksha, hi aur murti) dharm ki patniyan banin. svaha nam ki kanya agnidev, svadha namak kanya samast pitron ki tatha sati nam ki kanya mahadev ki patni banin. sati apne patidev ki seva men hi sanlagn rahne vali thin. daksh prajapti ki sabhi kanyaon ko santan ki prapti hui, parantu sati ke pita daksh ne bina hi kisi apradh ke bhagvan shivji se pratikul acharan kiya tha, isilie yuvavastha men hi krodhavash yog ke dvara svayan hi apne sharir ka tyag kar dene se sati ko koi santan n ho saki. chakravarti samrat ke pad ka tyag karne vale maharaj parikshit ne shri shukdev ji se pucha-bhagvan ! prajapti daksh to apni sabhi kanyaon se vishesh prem karte the, fir charachar ke guru vairrhit, shantamurti, atmaram shri mahadevji ke prati dvesh tatha pragarh sneha sati ke prati anadar kyon kiya? shri shukdevji ne kaha- rajan ! ek bar prajaptiyon ke yagya men rishi, devta, muni aur agni adi apne-apne anuyayiyon ke sahit ekatra huye the.

tum log jo dharm maryada ke sansthapak evan varnashramiyon ke rakshak ved aur brahmanon ki ninda karte ho, isse malum hota hai tumne pakhand ka ashray le rakha hai. yah vedmarg hi logon ke lie kalyankari aur sanatan marg hai. iske mul sakshat vishnu bhagvan hain. tum log satpurushon ke param pavitra aur sanatan marg svarup ved ki ninda karte ho- islie us pakhand marg men jao, jismen bhuton ke sardar tumhare ishtadev nivas karte hain.’’ bhrigu rishi ke is prakar shap dene par bhagvan shankar kuch khinn se ho vahan se apne anuyayiyon sahit chale gaye. prajaptiyon ne bhi purushottam shrihri hi jiske upasyadev the us yagya ko purnakar shriganga-yamuna ke sangam men yagyant snan kar apne sthanon ko padarpan kiya. shri shukdev ji kahte hain- rajan! bhagvan shankar ke prati daksh ka vair virodh barhta hi gaya. uske bad damad-sasur ka milan nahin hua. isi samay brahmaji ne daksh ko prajaptiyon ka adhipti bana diya. ‘prabhuta pai kahi mad mahi’ daksh ka garva aur bhi barh gaya. usne bhagvan shankar adi brahmanishthon ko yagyabhag n dekar ‘vajpey yagya’ kiya aur fir ‘brihaspatisv’ namak mahayagya aranbh kiya. bhagvan shiv ko nimantran nahin diya, parantu akashmarg se jate hue devtaon ke dvara apne pita daksh ke yahan hone vale mahayagya ke vishay men dakshakumari sati ne jan liya. sati ne sanand kaha- vamdev ! suna hai, is samay apke sasur daksh prajapti ke yahan bara bhari yagyaotsav ho raha hai. sabhi devta, brahmarshi, devarshi, pitar adi sabhi apni-apni patniyon ke sath ja rahe hain, yadi apki ichcha ho to ham bhi chalen. is samay sabhi atmiya janon se milan ka suavasar bhi prapt hoga. pati, guru aur mata-pita adi suhridon ke yahan to bina bulaye bhi ja sakte hain. apko prasannatapurvak meri yah ichcha avashya purn karni chahie- ‘‘pita bhavan utsav param jau prabhu aysu hoi. to main jaun kripayatan sadar dekhan soi..
’’ apne mujhe apne adhe ang mane sthan diya hai, islie meri yachna ko svikar kijie. bhagvan shankar ne kaha - sundari ! bandhujan ke yahan bina bulave ke bhi ja sakte hain, yah thik hai; kintu aisa tabhi shobha deta hai, jab unki drishti dehabhiman se utpann hue mad aur krodh ke karan dvesh-dosh se yukt n ho gayi ho. devi ! main janta hun tum dakshaprajapti ko apni kanyaon men sabse adhik priya ho. tathapi meri ashrita (patni) hone ke karan tumhen apne pita se man nahin milega, kyonki ve mujhse bahut jalte hain. prajaptiyon ki sabha men namrata, pranam adi kriyayen lokavyavhar men prasiddh hain aur tatvagyaniyon ke dvara unka sanpadan bhi achchi prakar se kiya jata hai. ve antaryamirup se sabke antahkrnon men sthit parmpurush vasudev ko hi pranamadi karte hain, dehabhimaniyon ko nahin. main bhi shuddh chitt men sthit indriyatit bhagvan vasudev ko hi namaskar kiya karta hun. mera koi apradh n hone par bhi mera katuvakyon se tiraskar kiya aise tumhare pita daksh ke yagya men tumhara jana uchit nahin hai. mera shatru hone ke karan tumhara vahan jana achcha n hoga; kyonki jab pratishthit vyakti ka apne atmiyajnon ke dvara apman hota hai, tab vah tatkal mrityu ka karan ho jata hai.
shri shukdev ji kahte hain- rajan ! itna kahakar bhagvan shankar maun ho gae. unhonne dekha ki daksh ke yahan jane dene athva n jane dene-donon hi avasthaon men sati ke pran tyag ki sanbhavna hai. sati bhi duvidha men par gayin; kabhi andar kabhi bahar. shok aur krodh ne unke chitt ko bechain kar diya. buddhi murh ho gayi aur lanbi-lanbi sans leti hui bhagvan shiv ko chorakar apne mata-pita ke ghar chal din. sati ko furti se akeli jate dekh shrimhadev ji ke hajarane sevak sati ke sanpurn upharon ko sath lekar bhagvan ke vahan vrishbhraj ke sahit sati ke samaksh sthit ho gae. sati ko bail par savar kara diya aur chal pare. daksh ki yagyashala men sati ka padarpan hua- ‘pita bhavan jab gai bhavani dachch tras kahun n sanmani.’’ parantu daksh ke bhay se mata aur bahnen avashya prasann huin kintu kisi ne bhi unka adar nahin kiya.
sati ka to anadar hua hi, us yagya men bhagvan shankar ko bhi koi bhag nahin diya gaya hai isse unhen bahut krodh hua aur devi sati ne kaha - pitaji ! bhagvan shankar se bara to sansar men koi bhi nahin hai. ve to sabhi dehdhariyon ke priya atma hain. unka n koi priya hai n koi apriya. sabhi devta-danav, rishi-manav unka adar karte hain, ve parabrahm parmatma hain. unse apne dvesh kiya. ap jaise durjan se sanbandh hone ke karan mujhe lajja ati hai. islie apke ang se utpann is shavtulya sharir ko tyag dungi. shri shukdev ji kahte hain- rajan. aisa kahakar sati maun hokar uttar disha men bhumi par baith gayi. bhagvan shankar ka chintan karte-karte yogagni ke dvara sharir ko jalate hue pran tyag diya. daksh ko sabhi ashishnu aur brahmanadrohi kahte hue us daksh ke duvryavhar ki ninda karne lage. hahakar mach gaya.
shivji ke parshad daksh ko marne daure, parantu bhrigu ne yagya se ‘ribhu’ namak tejasvi devtaon ko pragat kiya aur shivji ke ganon ko bhaga diya. sati ke pran tyag ka samachar mahadevji ne devarshi narad ke mukh se suna aur krodhavesh men apni ek jata se vishalkay kalrup vibhinn astra-shastron se yukt hajar bhujaon vale virabhrad ko pragatakar daksh tatha uske yagya ko nasht karne ki agya de di. virabhadra ne daksh yagya nasht kar diya aur daksh ka sir yagya ki dakshinagni men dal diya. virabhadra vapis kailash laut ae. brahmadi devtaon ne kailash jakar bhagvan shiv ki stuti ki aur daksh yagya ki purnata ka vardan prapt kar daksh ko bakre ka sir lagakar yagya ko purn kiya. daksh ko brahmagyan ki prapti hui. mata sati ne himalay raj ke grih men parvati ke rup men janmadharan kar punah bhagvan shiv ko prapt kiya, kyonki unhonne marte samay yahi vardan manga tha- sati marat harisan baru manga. janm-janam shivapad anuraga.
